Legal Information

Last updated: 29 October 2026.

This page is the legal information page for the website published under the name reportoli (referred to on this page as "we", "us", "our" or "the Operator"). It explains who operates the website, how the Operator is registered in the United Kingdom, which laws apply to the service we provide, and where to find the policies that govern privacy, cookies, purchases and refunds. It is intended for visitors, prospective learners, enrolled learners and business customers in the United Kingdom and, where relevant, for visitors in the European Economic Area.

We are a commercial provider of professional training and reference material dedicated to studio production in motion. Our material covers studio equipment setup, dynamic camera operation, lighting and sound, and the design of smooth, high-quality workflows for television news and live shows. This page is written in plain English so that it can be read alongside, and not instead of, the Terms and Conditions that apply to any booking you make.

1. Identity of the website operator and its role

The website is owned and operated by reportoli. The Operator is the controller of the website and of the personal data collected through it, the publisher of the educational content made available on it, and the trader that supplies any paid course, workshop, download or subscription purchased through it. Where we describe obligations on this page, those obligations fall on the Operator and on the responsible officers of the Operator.

The main statutory identifiers that apply to the Operator are set out below. They are also displayed in the site-wide footer on every page of the website, as required for companies trading in the United Kingdom.

  • Company Name: reportoli
  • Company Registration Number: 11847203
  • Place of Registration: England and Wales
  • Registered Office Address: Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG
  • VAT Registration Number: GB 341 7265 88
  • Email Address: [email protected]
  • Telephone Number: 01494 671234

2. Legal form, registration details, tax identifiers, licences and responsible representatives

2.1 Legal form and registration

The Operator is a private company limited by shares, incorporated and registered in England and Wales under the Companies Act 2006 and registered with the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales. The Company Registration Number shown above is the number under which the Operator is entered on the register at Companies House. The Place of Registration is England and Wales, and the Registered Office Address is the address at which legal documents may be served on the Operator.

Under section 82 of the Companies Act 2006 and the Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008, a UK company must disclose its registered name, its registered number, the part of the United Kingdom in which it is registered and its registered office address on its websites, business letters, order forms and other business correspondence, including email. Failure to make those disclosures is a criminal offence that can lead to a fine for the company and for the officers responsible for the non-compliant website or document. The details listed in section 1 of this page are provided for that purpose.

2.2 Tax identifiers

The Operator is registered for Value Added Tax in the United Kingdom under the VAT Registration Number shown above. Prices shown on the website are stated inclusive of VAT where VAT is chargeable, unless expressly stated otherwise at the point of sale. Where a business customer in another jurisdiction requires a VAT invoice with a valid VAT identification number, we will issue one on request through the contact route described in section 3.

2.3 Licences and regulated activities

The Operator is an education and professional-development provider. We do not carry on a regulated profession and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority; nothing on the website is financial, investment, legal or accountancy advice. Course content is technical and educational in nature and does not replace the manufacturer's instructions, the risk assessments of the studio in which you work, or the safety rules imposed by a broadcaster or production company. Where a course includes access to premises, equipment or live studio sessions, additional site rules and health and safety instructions apply, and those rules form part of the Terms and Conditions.

2.4 Data protection registration and responsible representatives

The Operator is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller and pays the annual data protection fee required by the Data Protection (Charges and Information) Regulations 2018. Day-to-day responsibility for data protection, for the content published on this website and for consumer-law compliance rests with the directors of the Operator. Where a director is named in business correspondence, the names of all directors are made available on request, in line with the trading disclosure requirements described above.

2.5 Modern slavery and supply chains

Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires commercial organisations with a total annual turnover of 36 million pounds or more to publish a slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year and to place a prominent link to it on their home page. The Operator does not currently meet that turnover threshold and is therefore not required to publish a statement. We nevertheless expect our suppliers, equipment partners and freelance contributors to comply with applicable anti-slavery and employment law, and we will publish a statement voluntarily if our turnover reaches the statutory threshold.

2.6 Insurance

The Operator maintains public liability and professional indemnity insurance in connection with the training, consultancy and studio-based services it supplies. Certificates of insurance are available to business customers on reasonable request, subject to the confidentiality limits of the policies concerned.

3. Registered office and contact details

Our Registered Office Address is Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG. Correspondence that has legal effect, including notices relating to a contract, should be sent to that address. For everyday enquiries you can also reach us by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 01494 671234. Both routes are monitored during normal UK business hours, and we aim to respond to enquiries within two working days.

The website also provides a Contacts page with a contact form. You may use the form to ask about course dates, course content, invoicing, accessibility adjustments or data protection requests. When you use the form, we ask you for your own name, email address and the details of your enquiry so that we can reply; that information is used for the purpose of handling your enquiry and is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

If you are a consumer in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also correspond with us at our registered office address given above, and nothing in this page prevents you from using the consumer complaint routes described in section 14.

4. Purpose, scope and intended audience of the website

The website is a commercial education and reference resource. Its purpose is to help working professionals, students and production teams improve practical studio skills: rigging and configuring studio equipment, operating cameras dynamically in multi-camera environments, designing lighting set-ups, capturing and monitoring sound, and building reliable, repeatable workflows for television news output and live shows.

The website is aimed at adults aged 18 and over who work in, or are training to work in, television, streaming, live events or corporate production. Some pages describe equipment, software and workflows in technical language. Where a course or download is aimed at a particular level, the prerequisite level is stated on the relevant course page. The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Content is published in English and is intended for use in the United Kingdom. If you access the website from outside the United Kingdom, you are responsible for complying with any local rules that apply to you, and services may not be available in every jurisdiction.

5. Access to the website and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the website and any course material you have purchased, for your own learning and professional development. You may not use the website for any unlawful purpose or in any way that damages, disables, overloads or impairs it.

In particular, you must not: copy, scrape, republish or resell course material, video lessons, lighting plans, sound workflows or downloadable templates; share login credentials or course access with anyone else; attempt to gain unauthorised access to restricted areas, servers or networks; introduce malware; interfere with a live online session; or use our studio facilities, equipment or demonstrations in a way that breaches health and safety instructions or the rules of the venue. We may suspend or terminate access without refund where there is a serious or repeated breach, and we may report unlawful activity to the relevant authorities.

6. Ownership and permitted use of website content, trademarks and other intellectual property

All content on the website, including text, course notes, scripts, quizzes, diagrams, lighting and camera plans, audio and video recordings, photographs, graphics, page design and software, is protected by copyright under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and by other intellectual property rights. The content is owned by the Operator or licensed to the Operator by third parties. All rights are reserved.

The name reportoli, together with our logos and course names, are trade marks of the Operator. You may not use them without our prior written permission, except where the law allows fair reference. Other product names, camera and lens brands, lighting brands, audio equipment names and software titles mentioned on the website are the trade marks of their respective owners and are used descriptively to identify the equipment and workflows being taught; their use does not imply any endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation.

You may print or download a reasonable amount of material for your own private, non-commercial study, provided you keep all copyright and attribution notices intact. You may quote brief extracts for teaching, review or news reporting where the law permits, provided the source is acknowledged. Any other use, including commercial training based substantially on our material, requires our written consent.

7. Accuracy, availability and proportionate limitations of liability

We take reasonable care to ensure that the technical information we publish is accurate and up to date, and we review course content regularly. Studio technology changes quickly, and equipment firmware, software versions and broadcast standards may differ between venues. Content is therefore provided for general educational purposes and does not constitute a guarantee that a particular workflow will work with a particular combination of equipment, software or premises. You remain responsible for testing configurations, following manufacturer instructions and complying with the safety rules of your own studio.

We aim to keep the website available at all times, but access may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, security work or events outside our reasonable control. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability, and we may change, suspend or withdraw parts of the website.

Where we supply services to a consumer, we must perform them with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing in this page or in the Terms and Conditions excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with the website or a course booking is limited to the amount you paid to us for the service in question, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits, lost production time or loss of opportunity. Business customers should consider whether their own insurance arrangements are adequate.

8. External links and third-party content

The website may refer to or link to third-party material, such as manufacturer documentation, software vendors, industry standards bodies, venue partners or payment providers. Those resources are operated by other organisations and we do not control them. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security or privacy practices, and a reference or link does not mean that we endorse the organisation or its products. When you follow a third-party link or use a third-party service, that organisation's own terms and privacy notices apply.

Where you submit material to us, for example a review of a course, a question in a live session or a file for a troubleshooting exercise, you confirm that you have the right to share it and you grant us permission to use it for the purpose of running and improving the service.

9. Data protection and privacy

The Operator processes personal data in accordance with the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). As a data controller, we must tell you who we are, what we do with your personal data, why we are allowed to do it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have. Those details are set out in full in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of the legal framework of this website.

In summary, we process your name and contact details so that we can answer enquiries, administer bookings, deliver courses, issue invoices, provide support and prevent misuse of the website. We rely on contract, legal obligation, our legitimate interests and, where required, your consent. You have the right to be informed, of access, to rectification, to erasure, to restriction, to data portability and to object, and you may withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. International transfers of personal data, where they occur, are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the standard contractual clauses. Please read the Privacy Policy for the full explanation; the summary on this page does not replace it.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies. PECR requires consent for storing or accessing information on your device unless the storage is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested. The website displays a cookie banner that lets you accept, reject or configure non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time. Essential cookies are used for security, load balancing, remembering your cookie choice and keeping a session open; analytics or marketing cookies are used only if you consent. Further detail, including the categories of cookies and retention periods, is provided in the Cookie Policy referred to in section 11.

11. Courses, bookings, payments, cancellation and refunds

When you buy a course, workshop, download or subscription from the website, you are entering into a distance contract. The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 require us to give you specified pre-contract information, including the main characteristics of the service, the total price inclusive of VAT, the arrangements for payment and performance, the duration of any contract, your cancellation rights and the model cancellation form where it applies. That information is given on the course page and in the order confirmation, and is confirmed to you in a durable form after you order.

If you are a consumer, you normally have 14 days from the conclusion of the contract to cancel without giving a reason. Where you ask us to start delivering a service during that period, you must expressly request that we begin and acknowledge that you lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully performed. Where a course consists of digital content supplied immediately, you will be asked to give your express consent to immediate delivery and to acknowledge the loss of the cancellation right. Statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to a repeat performance or a price reduction where a service is not performed with reasonable care and skill, are not affected by the cancellation rules. We do not add default extra charges, do not use pre-ticked boxes for optional extras, and any card or payment surcharge never exceeds the cost to us of the payment method used. Full detail is set out in the Terms and Conditions and in the Payment and Refund Policy.

12. Electronic commerce and provision of services information

Because we advertise and supply services through this website, the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 and the Provision of Services Regulations 2009 apply to us. In addition to the identity, registration and VAT information set out in section 1, we provide a geographical address at which we are established (we do not use a PO box for this purpose), an email address and a telephone number for rapid and direct communication, the general terms and conditions on which we supply services, and information about the price of services where it is pre-determined. Where the website is used to conclude a contract, we set out the different technical steps you must take to conclude that contract, we acknowledge receipt of your order without undue delay, and we make available the applicable contract terms before you place the order.

We also provide contact details for complaints and information requests, as described in section 14. If a breach of the consumer information rules harms the collective interests of consumers, enforcement bodies such as Trading Standards can take action under the Enterprise Act 2002.

13. Accessibility

We want our course material, video lessons and website to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA as a practical benchmark for colour contrast, keyboard navigation, captions, transcripts, resizing and compatibility with assistive technology. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us because we are a private commercial operator, but the Equality Act 2010 requires us to make reasonable adjustments for learners with disabilities. If you need a transcript, a different format, additional time in a practical session or any other adjustment, please contact us using the contact route in section 3 or through the Contacts page, and we will discuss what is reasonable with you.

14. Applicable law, competent courts and consumer dispute rights

This legal information page, the use of the website and any contract concluded through it are governed by the law of England and Wales. Subject to the paragraph below, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or connected with the website or a contract.

If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country in which you live in the United Kingdom, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Before starting any formal proceedings, please raise the issue with us first using the contact route in section 3; most questions can be resolved quickly.

We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and we do not currently nominate an ADR provider. If we ever agree to ADR, we will tell you which certified provider is involved and whether any charge applies. Nothing on this page affects your statutory rights or your right to complain to a public body such as Trading Standards or the Information Commissioner's Office.

15. Contact route, changes to this page and last-updated date

If you have a question about this page, about the identity of the Operator, about a booking or about your data protection rights, please use the contact route described in section 3 or the contact form on the Contacts page. Please quote your booking reference where your enquiry relates to a purchase.

We may update this legal information page from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law, in our registration details or in the services we offer. The version published on this page is the version that applies to your use of the website. Where a change materially affects an existing contract or your rights, we will give reasonable notice, and where the change relates to the processing of personal data we will follow the notice requirements of the Privacy Policy. This page was last updated on 29 October 2026.

16. Footer information displayed across the website

The following statutory identifiers appear in the footer of every page of the website in the format label: value, separated by vertical bars:

Registered Company Name: reportoli | Company Registration Number: 11847203 | Place of Registration: England and Wales | Registered Office Address: Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG | VAT Registration Number: GB 341 7265 88 | Email: [email protected] | Telephone: 01494 671234 | Footer Text: Registered Company Name: reportoli | Company Registration Number: 11847203 | Place of Registration: England and Wales | Registered Office Address: Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG | VAT Registration Number: GB 341 7265 88 | Email: [email protected] | Telephone: 01494 671234 | Footer Text: {site.footer_text}

The footer text is plain text only and contains no advertising, so that the required company disclosures are always visible and legible on every page. If the disclosures in the footer ever appear out of date, please tell us using the contact route in section 3 so that we can correct them promptly.

17. Related policies that form part of this legal framework

This page should be read together with the other policy documents published on the website. In particular, the Privacy Policy explains the lawful bases, retention periods, sharing and international transfers that apply to personal data; the Cookie Policy explains the cookie categories, purposes, durations and preference controls referred to in section 10; the Terms and Conditions set out the contract, acceptable use, booking and cancellation rules referred to in sections 5 and 11; and the Payment and Refund Policy explains how payments are taken, how prices and VAT are shown, how refunds are calculated and how long refunds take. Where there is a conflict between this page and the Terms and Conditions on a matter of contract, the Terms and Conditions prevail, except in relation to mandatory consumer rights and data protection requirements, which always apply.

Further background on the statutory framework summarised on this page can be found in the public guidance published by Companies House (companieshouse.gov.uk), the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) and the official legislation service (legislation.gov.uk). That guidance is provided by those bodies, is not part of this page and may change over time.
